RESOURCE RECOVERY

Benedict has many years of experience with resource recovery

Benedict specialises in resource recovery for the waste industry. We take pride in our high rates of resource recovery, production, and supply and delivery of quality recycled materials to the community through innovative and environmentally responsible solutions.

Our facilities

Our Benedict recycling facilities at Chipping Norton, Newcastle, Wollongong and Belrose are dedicated to maximising resource recovery across a range of waste streams, including municipal (non-putrescible) household waste, construction & demolition (C&D) waste, commercial and industrial (C&I) waste and industrial residues that would have otherwise ended up in landfill.

THE PROCESS

Resource recovery process

At Benedict Recycling, materials such as wood, metals, plastic, paper, sand, soil, and rubble are sorted and separated.

The recoverable materials are reprocessed into various building and horticultural products which all meet strict industry and customer specifications and standards.

Our recycled products have been utilised in some of Sydney's biggest and most significant projects including the Barangaroo Development, Sydney Olympic Park, West Connex M4 widening, M2 upgrade, North Connex and the Wet’n Wild Recreational Park.

Environmentally responsible
solutions to maximize resource recovery

Recycling materials for industrial reuse and re-engineering materials into fit for purpose products has obvious environmental and commercial benefits.

According to Government data, less than 10% of the estimated 2.5 million tonnes of commercial and industrial (C&I) waste generated in Sydney each year is currently recycled; 90% of this potentially valuable resource goes straight to landfill.

Benedict is at the forefront of waste recycling in Sydney developing waste facilities that utilise new and emerging technologies to improve resource recovery rates from C&I waste to well above historical levels.

Construction and demolition (C&D) waste contains a large percentage of recoverable materials easily processed for reuse. Recoverable materials include timber, concrete, brick, soil and sand which can be recycled into soil, aggregate, bedding for pipe laying and road base.

BENEFITS

“Resource Recovery maximises the options for reuse, reprocessing, recycling and energy recovery at the highest net value of the recovered material. This encourages the efficient use of recovered resources while supporting the principles of improved environmental outcomes and ecologically sustainable development. Resource recovery can also embrace new and emerging technologies.”
